Why do the people of Bangladesh need Sheikh Hasina once again?
The answer is so simple!
Sheikh Hasina’s government in Bangladesh has been committed to implementing various mega projects throughout Bangladesh for the well-being of the people.
A great many mega projects accelerate economic growth, improve infrastructure, and uplift the standard of living for its citizens. Here are some of the significant mega projects undertaken during the last decade:
Padma Bridge
The Padma Bridge is one of Bangladesh’s most contributory projects, aiming to connect the country’s southwestern region with the capital city, Dhaka and others. It is a multipurpose road-rail bridge across the Padma River and is expected to facilitate transportation, trade, and socio-economic development in the region.
Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant
This project aims to establish a 2.4-gigawatt nuclear power plant in Rooppur, Pabna district. It is Bangladesh’s first nuclear power plant and is expected to significantly boost the country’s energy production and reduce its dependence on fossil fuels.
Rampal Power Station
The Rampal Power Station is a 1,320-megawatt coal-fired power plant located near the Sundarbans mangrove forest, aiming to meet the increasing energy demands of the country. The project has faced environmental concerns due to its proximity to the ecologically sensitive Sundarbans.
Matarbari Ultra Super Critical Coal-Fired Power Project
This is another major coal-fired power project, which aims to establish two power plants with a total capacity of 1,200 megawatts in Matarbari, Cox’s Bazar district. It is expected to contribute significantly to the energy requirements of the country.
Payra Sea Port
The Payra Sea Port is a deep-sea port located in the southern part of Bangladesh. The government envisions it as a key trade and logistics hub, facilitating the efficient handling of goods and fostering economic growth in the region.
Dhaka Metro Rail
The Dhaka Metro Rail project is intended to establish a mass rapid transit system in the capital city, Dhaka, to address its growing traffic congestion and provide a more sustainable mode of public transportation.
Special Economic Zones (SEZs)
The government has set up several SEZs across the country to attract foreign direct investment, boost exports, and create employment opportunities. Notable SEZs include the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpanagar in Chattogram and Mirsarai Economic Zone.
100 Economic Zones
As part of the government’s vision to foster industrialization and regional development, it has planned to establish 100 economic zones across the country to attract investments and create jobs.
Metro Rail Projects in Other Cities
Apart from the Dhaka Metro Rail, there are plans for developing metro rail projects in other major cities like Chattogram and Gazipur to improve intra-city transportation.
Digital Bangladesh
This is an ambitious but practical vision of the government to transform Bangladesh into a digitally advanced nation. Various initiatives have been taken to expand internet connectivity, promote e-governance, and enhance the digital skills of the population.
All these huge actions have been done and many others like the Karnafully tunnel going to open by Sheikh Hasina-lead government. Hence, this is why once again Bangladesh needs Sheikh Hasina.
